The Beginning
Every build tells a story — ours began with one vision.
In 1989, Glenn Carvery turned his passion for the trades into a small painting business with one van, a few tools, and a drive to create opportunity.
What began as Carvery’s Painting soon evolved into Carvery’s Construction Limited — a company built on integrity, craftsmanship, and community.
Through decades of hard work, perseverance, and innovation, Carvery’s has grown into a trusted name across Nova Scotia — delivering multi-trade construction solutions while staying true to the family values that shaped its foundation.
1989 – The Beginning
Carvery’s Painting is born.
Glenn Carvery launches the business in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, working evenings and weekends while employed full-time.
1996 – Incorporation
Growth takes root.
The company officially registers as Carvery’s Construction Limited, expanding into renovations and general contracting.
2000 – Community Leadership
Empowering Black business excellence.
Joins the Black Business Initiative (BBI), becoming part of Nova Scotia’s growing network of Black-owned enterprises.
2007 – Expanding Services
From painting to full construction.
Carvery’s diversifies into electrical, plumbing, heating, and full-scale contracting — establishing a one-stop, multi-trade model.
2017 – Union Partnerships Begin
Strength in collaboration.
Joins Local 56, marking the start of Carvery’s fully unionized workforce.
2018 – Continued Growth
A stronger, broader team.
Adds partnerships with Local 1439 and Local 625, deepening expertise across specialized trades.
2021 – A New Home Base
The Burnside Facility.
Construction begins on the company’s 18,000-sq-ft headquarters — creating an integrated operations hub and training space.
2023 – A Family Legacy Continues
Next-generation leadership.
Following the passing of founder Glenn Carvery, his sons — Glendel, Tremayne, and Tyson — take the helm, carrying forward his vision of excellence and community.
